The intangible idea being held within my object is time and memory. I have recently found myself thinking a lot about the passage of time and the impermanence of moments and people. I took inspiration from forms of scanned brain neurons and the neural network, reflected in the organic shape of the form as well as the veiny texture on the surface of the piece. The reliquary is soldered shut but I have pierced out little blobs that allow you to look into or through to the other side, partially fragmented, just how memory can be. The object can be held and constantly fidgeted with or hung on the wall like a clock, either way serving as a reminder of moments, people and memories that have been consumed whole by the passage of time.
